Sports writer Robert Lipsyte to visit 8th grade literacy program

Author and nationally known sports journalist Robert Lipsyte will talk about "The Contender" with a group of 8th graders who are reading his book in an after-school sports literacy program at Paisley IB Magnet School. The program is led by Wake Forest University education professor Alan Brown and Wake Forest football student-athlete Wendell Dunn.


Remembering Porter Byrum

Because of the generosity of Porter B. Byrum (JD '42) -- an attorney, businessman, philanthropist and Wake Forest alumnus -- hundreds of students have had the opportunity for a Wake Forest education. Today the Wake Forest community remembers Byrum, whose lifetime giving to the University totaled more than $50 million.


HB2: one year later

With the first anniversary of the passage of North Carolina House Bill 2 (HB2) approaching this week, several Wake Forest experts are available to comment on the original legislation, appeal proposals, court challenges and the impact on the state.


Former Congresswoman Donna Edwards to speak at WFU

Donna Edwards (’80), former Maryland congresswoman and Wake Forest graduate, will speak on Thursday, March 23, at 6 p.m. in Farrell Hall’s Broyhill Auditorium. The talk is part of Wake Forest University’s Leadership Project, a program designed to showcase inspiring stories from leaders who represent a variety of professional paths.
