O’Connell, who is from Tampa, Fla., graduated summa cum laude in May 2013 with a bachelor of arts in politics and international affairs. Alec Christian, a junior from Salem, Conn., who studies organic chemistry, was recently awarded a Goldwater Scholarship. Christian was selected as one of 271 math, science and engineering students from around the country to receive the award for the 2013-2014 school year.
