Dierdre McCloskey, Distinguished Professor Emerita of Economics, History, English, and of Communication, University of Illinois at Chicago, will speak in Wake Forest University’s Broyhill Auditorium on Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m.
Because of the generosity of Porter B. Byrum (JD '42) -- an attorney, businessman, philanthropist and Wake Forest alumnus -- hundreds of students have had the opportunity for a Wake Forest education. Today the Wake Forest community remembers Byrum, whose lifetime giving to the University totaled more than $50 million.

Wake Forest University Student Health Service has received updated information about the student who was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis on March 16. The student is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
Wake Forest University Student Health Service has been informed that an undergraduate student tested positive for bacterial meningitis this morning. The student is currently being treated for this condition at a local hospital. No other recent cases of meningitis have been reported at Wake Forest.
Once every four years since 1963, Wake Forest students have traveled to New York City over spring break on a Student Union Art Acquisition Trip to purchase art on behalf of the University. They are asked to choose contemporary artwork that reflects the times.

The Wake Forest community commemorated 183 years since the University’s founding at Founders’ Day Convocation in Wait Chapel on Feb. 16. The celebration recognizes student leaders and honors faculty for teaching, research and service.
