Advisory: Media invited to business etiquette workshop at WFU Tuesday

Wake Forest University’s Office of Career Services is hosting a training workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday designed to teach students the proper rules of business conduct after they have landed a job. The workshop will be held in Benson University Center, Room 401B.

Cecilia Grimes, a Wake Forest graduate and president of the company Etiquette Matters, will lead the session, which offers instruction on things like handshakes and how to properly present a business card or which side to wear a name tag, among other topics.

Shan Woolard, assistant director of career development at Wake Forest, said some students have the skills needed to succeed during the first year of employment, but others need some help with the intricacies of proper office conduct.

“This is the first time we have offered this workshop, and the interest really grew out of the dining etiquette workshop that we offer in the fall,” Woolard said. “We want to focus on the rules of behavior once a student goes to work.”
