Wake Forest freshmen arrive on campus Wednesday

This year’s freshman class is expected to total 982 students. They will move into their residence halls throughout the day on Aug. 18.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors move into their rooms on Aug. 21 and 22. A final count of the entire undergraduate student body is not available at this time.

Classes for all undergraduate students will begin on Aug. 25.

This year’s freshman class is comprised of 505 women and 477 men coming to Wake Forest from 44 states and seven foreign countries. Nearly all freshmen-974-will live on campus. Eleven percent of the entering class are minorities, including 7 percent who are African-American. In high school, 23 percent of the students were president of a school club, 10 percent were student government president or class president and 13.7 percent were valedictorian or ranked in the top 1 percent of their class.

Also on the Reynolda Campus, classes begin today for 164 students entering the Wake Forest School of Law. With the new class, total enrollment for the law school is about 470 students.

Orientation also begins today for 114 students entering their first year in Wake Forest’s Babcock Graduate School of Management. There are 45 first-year students in Babcock’s evening MBA program, 61 in the executive program and 43 in the Charlotte program. The total enrollment figure for the Babcock school is estimated at 678 students. Classes for returning students in the law and Babcock schools will begin on Aug. 23.

Classes begin on Aug. 25 for about 150 new students enrolling in Wake Forest’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The total enrollment for the graduate school is about 420. After more than a decade of preparation, the Wake Forest Divinity School opens this fall with 24 full-time students from a variety of denominational traditions. The divinity school is Wake Forest’s first professional school to open since the Babcock school was founded in 1969. Orientation is from Aug. 20 to Aug. 28. Classes start Aug. 25.

The school offers a three-year program to earn a master of divinity degree. The school’s curriculum will focus on biblical studies, church history, theology and ministry studies, such as pastoral care and preaching.
