WFU to dedicate Maya Angelou Hall Feb. 17

Author and social justice scholar Monique Morris will deliver the 2017 Anna Julia Cooper lecture at Wake Forest University on Tuesday, February 21 at 6 p.m. at the Porter Byrum Welcome Center. Morris’ research intersects race, gender, education, and justice to explore the ways in which black communities, and other communities of color, are uniquely affected by social policies.
Each year, Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem State University collaborate to host a major celebration to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The theme of this year’s program is “On Common Ground: A Dream Deferred.”
The documentary film, “The State of Eugenics,” will be screened at Wake Forest University on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 5 p.m. in Porter Byrum Welcome Center. The event is free and open to the public.
