Historic Homecoming

Ed Reynolds meets with Wake Forest students and staff. For Edward Reynolds ('64), coming home to Wake Forest meant a standing ovation from more than 500 people in Brendle Recital Hall and emotional reunions with many of the students, faculty and administrators who helped him when he enrolled as the first black undergraduate student at Wake Forest 50 years ago.

Faces of Courage: Ed Reynolds

Ed Reynolds talks with fellow students in 1962. In September 1962, a Ghana native named Ed Reynolds ('64) became the first black full-time undergraduate to attend Wake Forest. Fifty years later, Reynolds comes come back to campus to mark the anniversary of the integration of Wake Forest as part of “Faces of Courage: Celebrating 50 Years of Integration."
