Wait Chapel, Wake Forest University’s most iconic building, has hosted religious services, academic ceremonies, concerts, lectures, weddings and other events for more than 60 years. Jonathan Lee Walton, who joined the University in 2019 as Dean of the Divinity School and the inaugural Dean of Wait Chapel, is working diligently to ensure its continued relevance.

A woman who hopes to bridge the gap between academia and the community and has a passion for contributing to the advancement of Black people has been hired as the new assistant director of the Center for Research, Engagement and Collaboration in African American Life, or RECAAL.

Wake Forest University is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of General Colin L. Powell. General Powell was the University’s 2004 Commencement speaker. In his first commencement address as U.S. Secretary of State, Powell interspersed national policy with advice for Wake Forest’s 1,597 graduates. Powell said the impulse to do the right thing should apply to both individuals and nations.
