Accounting grads rank tops in nation

Students in the Master of Science in Accountancy program at the Schools of Business achieved the top pass rate in the nation on the Certified Public Accountant exam for the 10th time since 1997, more than any other university during the same time period.

Gift champions wellness

Ben Sutton Jr. has given Wake Forest a leadership gift that will renovate and expand Reynolds Gym, creating a facility with more than 250,000 square feet of space dedicated to fitness and well-being. The facility will bring the elements of campus life, student health, academics, student recreation and NCAA Division I athletics under one roof.

U.S. News and World Report’s 2013 Best Colleges guide ranked Wake Forest 13th among national universities with the best undergraduate teaching.  The list highlights “schools where the faculty has an unusually strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.”

“We wanted to introduce Wake Forest to China as we look for opportunities to create educational programs in the future,” said Linda McKinnish Bridges, associate dean of admissions. “Not only opportunities for students from China to learn about Wake Forest, but opportunities for Wake Forest students to study abroad or find careers in China.”

Hatch elected chair of NCAA board

The NCAA Division I Board of Directors has elected Wake Forest President Nathan O. Hatch as chair of the board. “I am honored to be selected chair of this important body as we seek to address these important issues and work to uphold the ideals of collegiate athletics,” Hatch said.

The Schools of Business won the Connected Campus Award at the AMX Innovation Awards ceremony. The awards recognize innovative higher education institutions and best practices of the use of technology. AMX will provide school with $50,000 worth of new technology.

WFU kicks off 1-year law program

Have you thought about studying law as a way to continue your liberal education and cross a bridge into the professional world? The Wake Forest School of Law plans to offer a one-year Master of Studies in Law (MSL) program beginning in the Fall 2012 semester. There will be an informational session for prospective students at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, in Room 1134 of the Worrell Professional Center.

BioTech Place opens downtown

The $100 million, 242,000-square-foot Wake Forest BioTech Place debuted Tuesday in the Piedmont Triad Research Park. The facility will house about 350 Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center researchers and scientists, with room for 100 more employees.
